Fripp Island has received recertification by the National Wildlife Federation as a Community Wildlife Habitat, and it’s a designation that’s very well deserved.

This is the third year that the island famous for it’s deer, gators, birds and sea turtles has been nationally certified by the NWF. The prestigious recognition is the result of hard work by a variety of organizations including the Naturally Fripp Community Wildlife Habitat Team, a diverse group of volunteers including Fripp Audubon, the Fripp Island Property Owners Association and Fripp Island Resort and from partnering with government, commercial and nonprofit organizations.

The Community Wildlife Habitat Team at Fripp is dedicated to building the barrier island’s widening reputation as a nature lover’s paradise. The Naturally Fripp team sought certification in 2013, submitting documentation of Fripp’s extensive wildlife projects and programs which compelled the NWF to quickly certify the island. Fripp continues to meet annual conservation goals to maintain its status and is one of just four certified South Carolina communities to receive the distinction, with only 90 nationwide.

“NWF certification has introduced Fripp Island to many who’ve never heard of it. Interest in Fripp will broadly benefit our beautiful South Carolina Lowcountry, its rich, diverse natural habitat and wildlife,” the resort said in a statement.
