A fall flavored band hop around Beaufort

A fall flavored band hop around Beaufort

By Mary Ellen Thompson | We’re looking at a cooler and crisper evenings this weekend in Beaufort…perfect for hopping around town at night. Start your hop on Thursday as usual at Breakwater Restaurant and Bar where Vic Varner and Robert Moring will be playing from 7 until 9:30.

On Friday grab your sweaters, eye patches, pirate costumes, and your ho, ho, ho, and hop, hop, hop on over to The Back Porch Grille where the BIG Pirate Fest will commence at 7. Snazzy Red will start playing at 7:30 and the fun will continue on with, I imagine, some rum swizzling and swilling and a fair share of  “Ahoy Matey’s”. Lowcountry Produce Market and Cafe will be closed for a private event, so when your swizzle fizzles, make tracks to the Foolish Frog to enjoy those gorgeous girls – The Sweetgrass Angels who will be playing from 7 – 11.

If a road trip appeals to your fall senses, get in the car and head to Guyton, GA and enjoy the Mossy Oak Music Park’s 40th Bluegrass Festival. The Festival starts Friday afternoon and continues through Saturday night. Your favorite Sometimes Later Band will be playing on Saturday as well as an amazing assortment of other wonderful musicians.

Saturday night here will find you tapping your feet to the Bull Grapes at the Foolish Frog between 7 and 11; we do love Kirk Dempsey and the Grapes!

Sunday’s stroll takes us on a bit of a different route this week. If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet – hurry up and call Breakwater Restaurant and Bar because the Beaufort International Film Festival is having their delightful Bourbon and Bubbles party at 6:00. For $50 you can taste all sorts of wonderful bourbons and champagnes and sample Breakwater’s yummy food. Last year I fell head over heels in love with Knob Creek Smoked Maple Bourbon – seriously, it’s the next best thing to bacon! Vic Varner will be playing for the event, which is the icing on the cake. I hope to see everyone there.

Enjoy. Be safe. Tip generously. Band Hop!
