Celebrate My Drive rally coming to Beaufort Town Center
Everyone knows that texting while driving is a very important topic of safety in today’s society, and a no-no. We also know that when our children take the wheel for the first time, things can be very scary for everyone concerned.
On October 19th, Beaufort Town Center is hosting the Celebrate My Drive rally to celebrate teens as they earn their driver’s licenses and prepare to explore the road ahead. This event brings together all area high schools, community organizations, non-profits, highway safety organizations, and others.
It’s a party designed to rally our schools and community around new drivers and keep them safe.
The event is scheduled for October 19th at Center Stage in the Beaufort Town Center Shopping Plaza from 10am to Noon. There will be demonstrations by the Beaufort City Police Department, Beaufort City Fire Department and Lady’s Island Fire Department, Beaufort County EMS, the SC Highway Patrol and more. You can also visit kiosks to make your safe driving commitment on behalf of your school – this includes students, parents, teachers, alumni and friends.
Celebrate My Drive® was created by State Farm® in 2012 to share the belief that safe driving is a lifelong commitment from the start. Since last year, thousands of students, family, friends and high school staff members have joined the party.
During the week of October 18-26, our community will be encouraged to make safe driving commitments on behalf of your favorite local high school. The more commitments made, the better your chances that school has of winning a grant up to $100,000 and maybe even a concert from Kelly Clarkson.
Celebrate My Drive is a chance for communities to rally around young drivers and encourage them to make safe driving choices every time they’re behind the wheel. With good reason – auto crashes are the number one cause of death among teens in North America.
