Hot Tip: 7 Holiday Activities Happening Around Beaufort!

The holidays are set to be in full swing soon, and the city of Beaufort has done a phenomenal job of reimagining the season of celebration.

While COVID-19 has put a pause on many of our traditional holiday activities, rest assured that there are still PLENTY of things to help you and your family celebrate the holiday cheer. Here’s a list of things happening during the month of December – be sure to add them to your calendar!

1. Free Holiday Parking in the Downtown Marina Parking Lot
Starting Thanksgiving day and through New Year’s Day, the Marina parking lot will offer free parking.

At 5:30PM on December 1 and running through December 13, “Celebrate the Season” is set to exhibit the holiday traditions and practices found around the globe. After the opening day of December 1, the free outdoor exhibit will be self-guided.

3. First Friday on December 4

Shops will be open until 9PM to celebrate “Hometown Christmas,” hosted by The Downtown Beaufort Merchant’s Association

4. Beaufort’s “Light Up the Town” Neighborhood Challenge

Let’s see who will show up and show out this holiday season, and which neighborhood will be dubbed the best-decorated neighborhood in Beaufort. Make a night of it one day this December by driving the family around to see the sights.

5. Holiday Under the Sea Scavenger Hunt (December 16 through New Year’s Day)

Take the kids to the city’s parks to hunt for decorated sea animal ornaments – the City asks that you leave them where they were found! Snap a pic with the ornaments and tag the city on Facebook with #bftHolidayUnderTheSea.

6. Send Santa a Letter!

Click here to learn about how you can send a letter to Santa this Christmas. Want to go the electronic route? Send an email to events@cityofbeaufort.org. Videos of Santa reading the letters will be posted on the City’s Facebook beginning on December 19. They also ask that you make sure the return addresses are clear!

7. Zoom Call with Santa!

Even Santa is getting in on the tech this year, and will be hosting a Zoom call from 2-3 PM on December 19. Check back on the City’s Facebook for the link as the event draws near.

Also as a reminder, please still practice social distancing and wear a mask – let’s keep the holidays a healthy, happy time!
