Lowcountry Food: Variety in season at Dempsey Farms
We love Beaufort’s farm stands and farmer’s markets and we visit them all the time. Nothing beats fresh local produce grown right here in Beaufort’s own soil.
We visited the farm stand at Dempsey Farms the other day and found lots of fresh local goodies. We picked out our own tomatoes from the fields and also found that Dempsey’s sweet corn is abundant and there’s a ton of fresh cantalope and watermelons too. We also found squash, a multitude of peppers, cukes, eggplant, zucchini and lots more.
You can pay a visit to Dempsey Farms along Sea Island Parkway Monday thru Saturday from 9 – 6 and support Beaufort’s LOCAL farmers and growers.
In addition to the multitude of roadside farm stands throughout the area, you can also visit Lowcountry Produce in Lobeco and Barefoot Farms and Pasture Shed Farms on St. Helena Island. The downtown Beaufort Farmer’s Market is open every Wednesday and the Port Royal Farmer’s Market every Saturday. They both bring out the best from our local growers.
