Local Marines celebrate Corps birthday at annual Ball

The VMFAT-501 Warlords from MCAS Beaufort celebrated the 241st Marine Corps Birthday on Saturday, November 5th with a ball held at the Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa.

Commanding Officer Gregory Summa lead the ceremonial tradtions which were followed by guest speaker Sergeant Major (Ret) Jamie Deets whose message transcended all generations of Marines from his 3 decades of service to the Corps.

Each year on or around the 10th of November, Marines come together to celebrate their history, honor the memory of those who have fallen, and ignite the bond that molds all generations of Marines. It is a night to truly be celebrated.

The United States Marine Corps Birthday is November 10th and is always celebrated with a traditional ball and cake-cutting ceremony, with several held throughout the Lowcountry.

Based at MCAS Beaufort, the mission of Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501is to conduct effective training and operations in the F-35B in coordination with joint and coalition partners in order to successfully attain the annual pilot training requirement.
