SCDNR surveys and tags horseshoe crabs

Dr. Al Segars, veterinarian for SCDNR and Coordinator of the ACE Basin National Estuarine Research Stewardship, along with National Geographic photographer Vincent Musi and writer Deborah Cramer, all participated in a bit of citizen science over this past weekend.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources invited Beaufort County locals to survey and tag horseshoe crabs on Harbor Island as hundreds emerged with the sunset.  Periodically, throughout the year, SCDNR offers many programs in which local citizens can take part in volunteering.
