Adopt a Black Cat from Hilton Head Humane for GOOD LUCK in 2021!

The lore is a lie! Back cats aren’t bad luck at all – in fact, they could be the best thing that happens for you and your family this Christmas.

We all know the bad luck legend that follows black cats around like a shadow, but if you think about it, there’s worse luck in this world than having a loving pet by your side. Our friends at Hilton Head Humane Association have had an influx of black cats who are ready to come snuggle up ‘safe at home’ with you this year.

HHHA has two special stories regarding their black cats…

Meet Mitty (below), a 15-year-old female and lived with her owner her whole life. Her owner could no longer care for her, so Mitty had to come to HHHA. She is a very sweet and cuddly cat and deserves a loving, quiet home to spend her golden years. You can find her at PetSmart Bluffton.

The other story is a tear jerker (tissues at the ready)…

. Shalimar (11.5 years-old, black cat) and Popper (6 years old, orange tabby cat) lived with their owner their whole lives when their owner passed away unexpectedly. Their owner’s relatives couldn’t care for them, so they came to HHHA. Shalimar is slowly coming around, but Popper has struggled incredibly and they are truly bonded: Popper will not eat if Shalimar isn’t right there. They need a quiet, loving home, and quickly!

Now if that doesn’t have your heart strings pulling, here’s even more reasons to get a black cat…

They’ll bring you good luck at Sea, and in love.

Ship crews would keep a black cat aboard to keep them safe at sea, and in Britain they say a woman who owns a black cat will also be lucky in love!

Their color is a fashion staple

Yes, just like a LBD, how about a LBC (little black cat)?

They have ancient credentials

In ancient Egypt, black cats were believed to keep bad spirits away, and being caught killing one meant being sentenced to death.

They can get a tan (!?)

Yep, they can! Just like when you spill a little bleach on a black shirt, if a black cat is exposed to sun (you know, like when they love to sleep on a windowsill for five hours at a time) their fur can become a rusty shade.

You’ll be in league with some heavy hitters

Many famous people have owned black cats, including Fred Astaire, Winston Churchill, Ernest Hemingway and Queen Victoria.

So now Beaufort friends, are you ready to adopt a black cat today? If so – give our friends at Hilton Head Humane Association a call and set up an appointment to go find your fur-ever furry friend.
