Anchorage 1770 Recognized, Named to Southern Living Hotel Collection
Southern Living magazine has been all over Beaufort in recent months having given us the title of Best Small Town in the South and adding downtown’s Craven Street to its list of Most Charming Streets in the South.
Now, the historic and beautiful Anchorage 1770 Inn has been picked as one of the best accommodations across the South by Southern Living and added to its Southern Living Hotel Collection; a distinction that also allows the Inn access to special amenities from Southern Living and to host Southern Living events.
This is a pretty big deal. With the collection hand picked by its editors, the magazine says, “the Southern Living Hotel Collection is a carefully selected series of the most delightful hotel experiences the South has to offer. From perfectly crafted rooms and restaurants to breathtaking natural surroundings, each of these premier hotel properties captures a charming experience that is both distinctively different yet completely Southern.”
The newly renovated, 247 year old, award winning 15 room boutique waterfront inn located on Bay Street in downtown has also recently reopened the historic Ribaut Social Club and offers impeccable regional cuisine. Owners Frank and Amy Lesesne’s aim was to capture the incorrigible spirit and convivial atmosphere of the original Ribaut Club, established at the Anchorage way back in 1891. In its heyday, the Club hosted performances, grand parties, dances and even gambling—a raucous getaway from buttoned-up social strictures of the time
This new addition of the Inn to Southern Living’s Hotel Collection isn’t just an accolade…it is top of the line.
Elite.
The Anchorage 1770 is a special and historic Beaufort spot that contributes to the lure and the charm that gives our town its personality, and we’re glad to see it get the recognition it deserves.
