ARTworks to host upcoming concert and mime theater

On Friday, March 8th at 7:30pm ARTworks is hosting a special mime theater show featuring Tom & Jef: New Mime Theater. Exciting and fun for all, Tom & Jef’s New Mime Theater challenges audiences and is a perfect experience for families including audience members who might like to be involved onstage and as the source for ideas for improvisations.
In this onstage world of New Mime Theater, a man encounters an amoebic character; another character’s mirror image takes over his life; and a student tries his hand at cheating on a test with cataclysmic results.
Also coming to ARTworks on Saturday March 9th is The Song Emerging: Craig Bickhardt in Concert at 7:30pmIn a world where everything is disposable from ink pens to diapers to electronics, songwriter Craig Bickhardt makes certain his music stands the test of time. Bickhardt crafted “Tender Mercies,” and his songs have also found their way onto platinum and Grammy winning albums by legends such as Ray Charles, B. B. King, Martina McBride, The Judds, and Dianne Schuur.
Bickhardt explains: “Fulfillment is all about taking the path that leads you on this journey truthfully, because that’s how we find whatever success we’re destined to find. All we can do is try to stay passionate, honest, and determined while overcoming the resistance. All we can do is get in the right place and wait for the right time to find us. What I need in order to begin a good song is some irritant, some experience or feeling that gets lodged inside of me until I can’t be rid of it any other way. We need great patience to write great songs. We must trust to the currents and wait for the event that places in us the seed of a genuine pearl.”
The Philadelphia enquirer concurs: “After all his years in the big time, Bickhardt has managed to retain that purity of spirit…refreshingly real.”
Tickets for both of the events are $17 per person, $12 for students (13+), $7 for children (12 and under) and $12 for groups of 10 or more. This performances are in the black box theater, surrounded by gallery exhibitions, workshops, and artists working in their studios, at ARTworks in Beaufort Town Center.
