A hot band hopping weekend ahead
By Mary Ellen Thompson | Now that the dog days of summer are all but a distant memory, it’s time to hit the town and get hopping. Cool off this weekend by visiting some of the hottest local bands in some of the local places we all love. Thursday night will be a treasure chest of music at Breakwater Restaurant and Bar with Vic Varner who will be accompanied by Danny Mallon sitting in on percussion and Thom Chambers on flute from 6:30 – 9:30pm.
Friday’s hop begins at Lowcountry Produce Market and Cafe; starting at 6:00 enjoy some small bites while you listen to the Sometimes Later Band, who you can count on to always plays the music you like to hear, until 9:00. Skip on over to The Back Porch Grille where you will find the Sweetgrass Angels playing, dancing, and lighting up the deck from 7:30 – 10:30. Then take a big hop on out to Frogmore’s finest, the Foolish Frog, where the highly entertaining Bull Grapes will be playing from 7 until 11.
Saturday grab a chair, pack a cooler with extra goodies and wander on over to Paris Avenue in Port Royal for Street Music by Moreland & Arbuckle starting at 6. Then bounce by The Back Porch Grille where Trey’s Aliens will be performing from 7:30 until 10:30. A long leap will land you at the Foolish Frog where the Sometimes Later Band will delight you as they always do, from 7 – 11.
On Sunday, stroll to Saltus River Grill, where Vic Varner will entertain you between 6:30 and 9:30.
Enjoy. Be safe. Tip generously. Band Hop!
