Bands Brews & BBQ in Port Royal this weekend

By Cindy Reid | Did someone say all you can eat barbeque? That’s right, Friends of Caroline Hospice’s annual Bands Brews & BBQ is back and will take place this tomorrow and Saturday in Port Royal. As a former Wing Throwdown  judge, a title I hold dearly, I was honored to be part of this event in the past and I can assure you that the barbeque is some of the best in the south.

Friday night is the Wing Throwdown party and it’s a good old fashioned block party, with live music and dancing in the street. Last year we cruised up and down the block, trying all kinds of different wings and chatting with all the friends and neighbors we ran into who were enjoying the night as well. The evening was warm, the food was hot and the crowd was lively.

Ahh, good times.

The big state-sanctioned SC BBQ Association Ribs and Butts ( no, that’ s not the name of a new band) cook off will take place on Saturday and also includes all you can eat barbecue (!!), live music and special fun for the kids.
As much fun as this event is, and trust me it is the all you can eat kind of fun, it serves a higher purpose by being a fundraiser for Friends of Caroline Hospice, a worthy cause if there ever was one. So get out there and help support one of the Lowcountry’s wonderful local organizations while enjoying the best cook-off in the area.
Bands, Brews & BBQ – see you there!
