Beaufort's Highway 21 Drive-In named 4th best in US

TripAdvisor has named Beaufort’s Highway 21 Drive-in among the top in the nation on it’s list of 10 top drive-in movie theaters released on Wednesday.

Taking into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews, the world’s largest travel site rated the drive-in as fourth best in the United States.

“Drive-in movie theaters often evoke a nostalgic feeling for years gone by,” said Brooke Ferencsik, director of communications for TripAdvisor in the news release. “For those looking to visit these classic American attractions, the TripAdvisor community has identified 10 fantastic drive-in movie theaters that offer affordable admission and a unique viewing experience that is sure to provide fun for families of all ages.”

In the release, a recent reviewer of the Drive-in stated, “With extremely reasonable ticket prices and wallet saving concession prices, the Highway 21 Drive-In really offers a family friendly environment to enjoy a movie.”

It’s reviews like this one that put our beloved local outdoor movie mecca near the top of the list.

Once numbering over 4,000 strong in its heyday, there are now less than 400 American Drive-In Theaters in operation today.
