Hundreds brave the water at the Pelican Plunge (w/video)

Hundreds of folks, young and old, took the Pelican Plunge on Tuesday at Hunting Island State Park.  Water temperatures hovering in the lower 50s, and air temps in the low 60s, didn’t deter many from the fun.  Some participants ran in, and immediately ran back out of the water, while some went in for a second dip.

The afternoon’s festivities included a costume contest and other activities.  The event benefits the Discover Carolina program that brings classrooms into the State Park for hands on learning.
