Local florist hands out over 800 roses on Memorial Day
Local florist Carolina Floral Design continued it’s tradition of giving back to our community by joining in the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Beaufort National Cemetery on Monday.
This time around, owner Sylvia Bushey and her friends handed out over 800 roses to those in attendance who traveled from near and far away to honor loved ones on the holiday
“Each year, we provide complimentary roses for the Memorial Day Ceremony so family members can place them on graves of fallen soldiers,” Sylvia said. “Being from a military background, this is very close to my heart.”
And being a military town, were glad they step up to do this as well.
In their fourth year of handing out free roses, it’s another nice story of Beaufortonians getting together and doing something kind for others in our Beaufort community.
Her volunteer crew proudly included Kathy Bushey, Tara Gabriel, Traci Guldner, Meka Radcliffe and Anita Marcinkowski; all getting together to help honor our local heroes.
“We start at 9am and go until all of the flowers are handed out, ” she added.
More than a thousand gathered on a beautiful day to remember our fallen heroes at the event sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs and local Veteran Service Organizations.
