Local seniors enjoy 47th Annual Senior Citizens Tea aboard MCAS Beaufort

The Officers’ Spouses’ Club at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort has been celebrating the holidays by hosting the Senior Citizens’ Tea since 1968, and this year’s 47th edition of the time honored tradition was enjoyed by more than 200 local seniors on Sunday, many from local assisted living and nursing facilities.

Attendees were each escorted inside by Marines in their dress blues, and everyone enjoyed lots of holiday cheer including tea (of course), as well as cookies, sandwiches and more all while listening to wonderful performances by the Beaufort Harbormasters, cheerleaders, an orchestra and lots more.

Organizers plan the event every year as a special way of thanking the local community for their long-standing support of the Beaufort South Carolina Military Tri-Command, and to celebrate our local senior citizens and our Country’s greatest generation.
