Memorial Day celebration on Cat Island to include F-35 Flyover, Flag Raising Ceremony, & more
This coming Memorial Day Weekend is the official Grand Opening of the newly resurrected Cat Island Club Golf Course. The weekend celebration begins on Friday, May 26th, and carries on for the public to attend through Sunday, May 28th.
Cat Island Club will be paying respect to fallen and retired heroes and honoring the men and women who have defended our freedom with a Flag Raising ceremony and a very special F-35 Aerial Salute Flyover conducting a Missing Man Formation to Remember and Honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. Prepare to shiver up your spine as they make a low-level pass to tip a wing to the Patriots on the ground. Bring the entire family and enjoy a host of exciting activities going on at the Club as we pay tribute to our nation’s heroes this holiday weekend.
Toast the resurrection of the Cat Island Golf Course
Friday, May 26, 2023 – 12 PM – 1:30 PM
The Ribbon Cutting ceremony with the Beaufort Chamber of Commerce will be held on the first tee. Along with the President of the Chamber and several other dignitaries, the team at Cat Island Club will cut the ribbon to officially open the course for play.
Following the ribbon cutting, there will be a few ceremonial tee shots from several Cat Island Club Founding Members and one very special guest. After the tee shots, guests are invited to stop by the Cabana Bar and Grill adjacent to the 1st tee and raise a glass to toast the resurrection of the Cat Island Club Golf Course.
Flag Raising Ceremony and F-35 flyover

The program will begin at 2:00 with a Bag Piper and then a trumpeter will play the National Anthem while four Marines in Dress Blues will raise the three flags. Then a lone Bugler will play Taps for Memorial Day at which time we’ll have 4 F-35s fly by with a missing man formation at 2:30. All guests are asked to arrive before 1:45 as we will be closing the parking lot at that time. The parking lot will be reserved for members and non-members will be able to park along the road outside the clubhouse.
Both Friday and Sunday festivities are open to the public, but outside food and beverages are not permitted. Admission and parking are free for the public. Leashed pets are always welcome, and all-weather delays will be posted on their Facebook page.
