Parris Island to host 2012 Swamp Romp Saturday October 20th

Parris Island to host 2012 Swamp Romp Saturday October 20th

Do you like to get dirty?  REAL dirty?  Swamp Romp is back.  The Lowcountry’s dirtiest race, Swamp Romp is a total sensory experience where you can become immersed in combat scenarios and sound effects as you run through the swamp, wade through mud pits and overcome obstacles.  The 5 mile course begins on a “beach,” moves to the “jungle,” takes you into hills and then back to the “beach.”  This is an intense event that looks like a great deal of fun too.  For some amazing photos of last year’s event, click here.

The rules are fairly simple.  Swamp Romp can be an individual event as well as a group event. Teams consist of 6 members. All team members must have physical contact with a teammate as they cross the start and finish lines. Teams will be disqualified for awards if: A) more than one team member does not finish or B) they lose any footwear on the course.  Participants must wear utility/long trousers or sweat pants –no shorts will be allowed. No minors under the age of 10 will be allowed to participate. Teams with minors between the ages of 10 and 14 must have one adult registered to run with them.

For those interested, the entry fees are as follows:   Active Duty/Retired Military: $25.00 per individual or $132.00 per six person team. All Others: $30.00 per individual or $140.00 per six person team. T-shirts are included in entry fee.
