September brings 5K Race season to the Beaufort area
With the ever-so-slight cool down we experience here in Beaufort when September rolls around, you’ll start to see the 5K races and run/walks popping up throught the greater area. While we see enthusiasts running every day during the hotter seasons of the year, September, October and November bring with them much more comfort.
Beaufort loves to stay fit, and Beaufort LOVES to run. Right Forrest? Here is some information on upcoming 5K fundraising events from both north, and south, of the big beautiful Broad River.
Already scheduled for September are the 2nd Annual May River Preserve 5k Under the Oaks (voted Bluffton’s Best Race), and the annual Tiger Bass 5K/12K at Hampton Lake.
Coming up on October 3rd is the Beaufort Shrimp Festival’s mega-popular 5K Run and also it’s Popcorn Shrimp Run for the younger enthusiasts in your family. The Shrimp Festival kindly offers us all a way to stay fit while dining on all the goodies it offers later in the day.
There’s the Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival 5K/10K on October 17th as well. There’s nothing like eating some fabulous festival food after a nice run.
If you’re looking for more than just a regular street run, then check out the Buffalo Run; a 10k, 30k, or 50k race on Sunday, October 11th. The Buffalo Run trail winds deep into the ancient maritime forests of Palmetto Bluff. Don’t be afraid to get a little muddy — it’s all a part of the experience.
Then you can close October out with the annual Bluffton Zombie Run. That one comes with a post race Halloween Festival with a costume contest, trick or treating, a Pumpkin Toss, Music, Food & More.
Of course, these are just a few of the upcoming events that you’ll need to put on the running shoes for. Keep your eyes open for several more, including the season’s Alzheimer’s Memory Walks and a variety of others, all helping you to stay fit, Beaufort.
