Shrimp boat sinks at Port Royal docks

A local shrimp boat has sank at the Port Royal docks at 11th Street, the second time in a few years that this has occurred at the same location.  The boat is currently resting on the bottom of Battery Creek, and is visible from Dockside Restaurant and other vantage points.  The mast has also caused a good deal of damage to the dock where it was moored, crashing through it as it had listed to its side.

According to a Beaufort Gazette report, the owner of the boat, Mark Smith, is attempting to remove the boat, and the Town of Port Royal is also making a contingency plan for its removal.
