Thousands invade downtown Beaufort in search of tricks or treats
It was 90 minutes of enjoyable, worthwhile chaos. And it sure was fun.
One of the year’s most fun family events had thousands of costumed kids and their parents shuffling down Bay, Carteret, Port Republic, West, Charles and Scott Streets on Thursday evening for the annual Downtown Beaufort Trick or Treat, presented by Main Street Beaufort, USA, and downtown merchants.
Miniature Ninja Turtles, Disney and storybook characters, ghouls and even some adorable animals made their stops at the many generous merchants who so enthusiastically participated, handing out candy and getting into the spirit of Halloween – some whom were even costumed themselves.
We also saw lots of monsters, zombies, witches and pirates, some legos, several scary clowns and dozens of beautiful princesses too. We even saw Disney’s Elsa…over, and over again.
Trick or Treat in Downtown is a long-time favorite of Beaufort families because it offers a safe way for children of all ages to celebrate Halloween and promotes a closeness within the community.
It’s another chance for children to see their friends and classmates, parents to spend time with other parents, and for local businesses to enjoy a break from the daily grind of retail & restaurant and let loose and really have some fun.
It is 90 minutes of chaos, but is there really anything better than hearing the downtown streets echoing with the laughter of excited, happy children?
It sure seemed that lots of parents enjoyed themselves too and lots of the kids’ costumes were very very creative. Like Goose & Maverick from the movie Top Gun, and an impeccable Dorothy and the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.
So much community fun. We’ll see y’all next year!
