Weekend warms to band hopping

By Mary Ellen Thompson | Put on your shoes and get ready for the end of week band hop! Everything heats up Thursday night starting at Breakwater Restaurant and Bar in downtown Beaufort with Vic Varner between 6:30 and 9pm and then hop on over to Q on Bay for the beloved Bull Grapes at 7, and playing on until 10pm.

The perfect mix for a fantastic weekend of band hopping?
Warm Beaufort nights, cold drinks, good friends and great local music.

Friday night’s hop begins at 6pm at Lowcountry Produce Market and Cafe with the Sometimes Later Band who will entertain you until 9, and sometimes later. Swing by Bricks on Boundary to catch a tune or two by SWIG starting at 7, and leap to the Back Porch Grill anytime after 7:30 to hear Snazzy Red who will be playing until 10:30, then bound on out to Frogmore’s favorite – the Foolish Frog for the famous Sweetgrass Angels who will be playing from 7 until 11pm.

Saturday will keep the spring in your step so you can enjoy some blues by the Bart Walker Band at Port Royal’s Street Music on Paris Avenue, starting at 6:30. Then leap on out to the island and catch up with Kirk Dempsey and the Bull Grapes at the Foolish Frog between 7 and 11, and hop onward to Boondocks to boogie down to the Beer Can River Band who will be playing between 8 and 11.

Rest.

Sunday is the time to stroll over to Saltus River Grill where you can enjoy Vic Varner and Friends between 6:30 and 9pm.

Enjoy. Be safe. Tip generously. Band Hop!
