Beaufort Beauties pageant lights up The Shed
Well over 200 people converged on The Shed in Port Royal to support four non-profit organizations at the 3rd annual Beaufort Beauties pageant on Saturday night.
Mike McFee (Michelle De Tainedalot), Bob Cunningham (Bobalina & the Bobettes), Hank Herring (Hot Hot Chocolate), Will McCullough (Selma House), Worth Liipfert (Crystal Balls), and Karl Wells (Helen Heels) put their best ‘heel’ forward to compete for the coveted crown of 2012’s Beaufort Beauty. Entertaining the crowd was this year’s ‘Mistress of Ceremonies’, Lucinda Ravenel, portrayed in character by former Saturday Night Live Alum and Beaufort resident, Terry Sweeney.
The evening began with an opening choreographed number and was followed by the talent competition which was filled with singing, dancing, piano playing, and a self defense lesson. Liipfert, who played the banjo, won the Talent portion.
McFee took the Evening Gown competition and then Liipfert was crowned Miss Congeniality for raising the most money for the charities leading into tonight’s event.
The contestants also answered questions that were asked by a panel of judges during a Q & A session. This year’s panel of judges was comprised of Ned Tupper, Jared Newman, Shannon Erickson, Mike Sutton, and Holly Jahn.
Worth Liipfert was crowned Miss Beaufort Beauty 2012.
The money raised by the 2012 Beaufort Beauties fundraiser will benefit Friends of Caroline Hospice, Thumbs Up, The Lions Club of Beaufort, and Main Street Beaufort, USA.
