Southern Living Magazine inspired 'Bottles & Barrels' event coming to Habersham

Southern Living Magazine, Habersham Marketplace, and Plum Productions have announced the first annual Bottles & Barrels event coming this June and bringing along with it a Cast Iron Chef competition, a Jazz Brunch, hot air balloon rides and lots more.

The event has three fun components; a wine & beer tasting, a live culinary competition, and jazz brunch. Saturday, June 14th features a tasting of boutique wines and craft beers and a “Cast Iron Chef” culinary competition. A traditional Southern Sunday Jazz Brunch will be held on Saturday, June 15th from 11am-2pm hosted by Southern Living Magazine’s test kitchen chef, Robby Melvin.

The event will also include a culinary cook-off to spotlight six local top-tier chefs competing in the “Cast Iron Chef Competition”, a 30-minute timed competition with one common factor – BACON, the 2014 ingredient of the year, must be used in all three presented dishes.

Chef Melvin will judge on presentation, use of ingredient of the year, and creativity. The winner is our official Southern LivingSouthern Living Magazine inspired 'Bottles & Barrels' event coming to Habersham in June “Cast Iron Chef 2014.”

The chefs will then prepare small plates of their bacon-inspired competition dish for 100 lucky VIP ticket holders to taste and enjoy.  It also features 20 boutique wineries and 20 craft breweries. A tasting ticket can be purchased for unlimited beer and wine tastings. Several Southern Living Magazine sanctioned awards will be given to the best of the best.

The event continues on June 15th with a traditional Southern Sunday Jazz Brunch beginning with croquet and cocktails on the grass at Le Chene Circle complete with hot air ballon rides and more. Guests will then be led to their shaded seats in Habersham Marketplace for a full service Jazz brunch – southern style. The menu will be created with care by Southern Living Test Kitchen Chef Robby Melvin, and will feature the ingredient of the year – BACON – and also locally sourced ingredients.

Full event details are listed and tickets can be pre-purchased beginning April 1 (highly recommended) on the event website: www.bottlesandbarrelssc.com.
