Carnival brings Easter fun to Port Royal
By Jennifer McCormack | While many were out Easter egg hunting all over Beaufort, The Link and Decibel Churches partnered up for a free Family Easter Carnival on Saturday at the Naval Heritage Park in Port Royal.
All of Beaufort must’ve been there, because it was packed.
From the moment you opened your car door you could hear the giggles of delighted children and The Brewer Band’s own version of live music reverberating off of the skate park walls. (if you weren’t aware, The Brewer Band is an ESPB favorite)
The event had every aspect of a great day at the fair. As soon as you walked up to the event you were greeted with Easter egg tosses and a wide array of bounce houses. The attractions ranged from a toddlerhouse, large inflatable slides, and a football throwing station, to a huge inflatable hulk. Not only were there multiple bounce houses to choose from, but children could also climb aboard one of Beaufort’s fire trucks; firefighters, lights, sirens & all.
Along with the tons of fun attractions to choose from, there were also tables set up with volunteers decorating smiling young faces with butterflies and rainbows. Once children were done getting their faces painted, they could run over and have a balloon animal, hat, or sword created, then quickly jump in line for a relay race.
All of the exciting activities were sure to work up quite an appetite; which could be happily quenched by the free snow cones, popcorn, soft drinks, and hamburgers. Many decided to enjoy their treats while watching the live band rock out in front of the skate park.
The Link and Decibel churches did an excellent job putting on a wonderful community event that was perfect for celebrating the Easter holiday and giving our community, and our kids, one fantastic time.
