Escape the heat at Paints 'N Paradise
By Jennifer McCormack | If you’re looking to escape from the Beaufort heat with the kids for a few hours, and let them express some of their creativity (in the air conditioning) then check out Toddle Tales at Paints ‘N Paradise pottery studio in Port Royal. Paints ‘N Paradise is a locally owned and operated, interactive paint studio with a wide variety of fun designs and pieces you can paint to make your own masterpiece. Professional artistry isn’t necessary because there are plenty of easy creations to make, or one of the staff members would be happy to help you create your vision.
The studio contains approximately 200 different items, ranging from functional items like dinnerware, to fun kid-friendly items like piggy banks and animal figurines. Not only can you bring the kids in to paint a signature creation, but Paints ‘N Paradise offers a weekly pre-school Toddle Tales story time on Tuesdays at 10am and at 1pm.
Toddle Tales involves reading a story and then painting a character from the children’s classic story or creating an artistic representation of something from the tale. Not only does the story time cover the classics, but they also read tales that correspond with the current seasons and holidays. For Memorial Day, children read a story about the American flag and then used their hands to create beautiful flag tiles. This event was followed by a Father’s Day story time that culminated with the children creating ice cream cone bowls for their dads.
There is no Toddle Tales June 23rd or July 1st, but there is a special Toddle Tales this Friday, June 26th, and in recognition of July 4th the kids will be making sand art flags and reading a special book about our country.
Reservations are required and can be made on their website at paintsnparadise.com or through their Facebook page.
Give the kids a break from this hot Beaufort summer, and bring them into the studio for a great activity to engage their creative sides.
