Gingerbread 5K hits the streets December 16thBeaufort loves a 5K and now there’s one at Christmas time with the first ever Gingerbread 5K through the streets of Port Royal, hosted by Friends of Caroline Hospice. Christmas races can be fun and festive especially when you’re decked out in a Santa suit or your favorite Christmas elf costume. This race is asking that you wear one because it’s all about having a good time.

The family friendly holiday race will take place on December 16th at 9am through the streets of Port Royal, starting and finishing at Live Oaks Park.Gingerbread 5K hits the streets December 16th

Coming on the heels of Friends of Caroline Hospice’s most successful Festival of Trees event ever, which ended on December 3rd, the local organization just keeps the festivities going throughout the month.

“This brings a fun race to Beaufort during a time of year when it’s more difficult for Beaufort’s running community to find one,” said Lindsay Roberg, Director of Friends of Caroline Hospice. “We’re very excited.”

“Costumes are encouraged and we cannot wait to see Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves and reindeer running through town,”she added.

With average December temperatures hovering around 61°, it’s the perfect weather to get out and enjoy a fun run.

Online registration ends on December 15th. Race day registration is available from 7:30 to 8:30 am. Packet pick can be done on race day beginning at 7:30 am, or on December 15, 2017 at Grounded Running in Shell Point.

“We are really looking forward to partnering with Friends of Caroline Hospice to assist with putting on another fantastic 5k event here in Port Royal,” Tim said. “This area really needed a fun, family friendly event just before the Holidays and I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone decked out in their Holiday colors and jingle bells as they cross the finish line.”

The presenting sponsor of the event is the new Seaside Family Chiropractic, Newcastle Square in Beaufort.

Race entry includes t-shirt.  Chip timing will be conducted by Tim Waz from Grounded Running and medals will be given to top three overall male and female finishers, as well as top three male and female finishers from each age group; and also given to the top three costume winners.
