Yard Farm Fried Green Tomatoes

    One of the Lowcountry’s favorite side dishes is Fried Green Tomatoes – take a crack at this traditional recipe, along with a sweet twist on the classic!

    To try them is to love them!

    INGREDIENTS:

    Mix together:

    • 1 cup white cornmeal
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 tsp, pepper
    • 1/2 tsp. paprika

    DIRECTIONS:

    Soak sliced green tomatoes in buttermilk for 30 minutes.

    In a frying pan, heat 1/4 inch corn oil. Fry tomatoes, turning regularly so they brown evenly. Remove to a plate covered with a paper towel and sprinkle lightly with salt.

    Sweet Fried Green Tomatoes

    ~1 cup corn muffin mix (we used Marie Callendar’s, but any mix will do)
    ~1 tsp. salt
    ~1/2 tsp. pepper
    ~1/2 tsp. paprika
